Morzine is ready and waiting to welcome you

We want to experience the joys of the mountains, of freedom and nature, but we want to feel safe while we do so. The mountains offer an incredible natural playground, and with the vast space of the Portes du Soleil spread out across 600km of skiing, there is plenty of space for everyone to feel at ease as they enjoy the fresh air. We’re taking safety seriously and are busy working on what is needed to ensure you can relax and enjoy time in Morzine.
Strict hygiene measures will be in place, activities have been specially adapted, but the same fresh open spaces will be available to enjoy in safety. Whether you’re at the lifts, Tourist Office, your accommodation, local transport, or our shops and restaurants you’ll be expected to wear a mask, will find hand sanitizer available, as well as the now ubiquitous reminders to wash your hands! We take your safety seriously and are putting all the necessary measures into place.

Mask-wearing is obligatory in all enclosed spaces.

Hand sanitiser is available.

Contact areas are regularly and thoroughly disinfected.

Distancing instructions are in place

New travel restrictions as of 16th January 2022

The French authorities have decided to implement a relaxation of the rules for travel between France and the United Kingdom due to the evolution of the health situation.

The rules that will apply as of Friday, January 14 for travel between the United Kingdom and France will be as follows:

  • All travelers, vaccinated or not, will have to present a negative test (PCR or antigenic) less than 24 hours old at departure.
  • For vaccinated travelers, there will no longer be an obligation to justify an imperative reason to come to France, nor an obligation to respect an isolation period upon arrival. In this respect, the requirement to register on the "éOS passager" digital platform prior to travel will be lifted. Screenings may be conducted at the place of arrival.
  • Non-vaccinated travelers coming from the United Kingdom must continue to register on the "éOS passager" platform prior to their departure, allowing them to enter the address of their place of stay in France. Upon arrival in France, they will have to observe a strict quarantine period of 10 days.

The health pass and your holiday

The health passport is needed in many situations in France for everyone aged 12 and 2 months old or older.
This pass is your proof of vaccination - an EU or UK NHS certificate is accepted or a recent (under 24 hours) negative test, or proof of having had Covid-19 in the previous 6 months.

The pass is necessary to enter all leisure and cultural areas with over 50 people, which includes the pool and sports center (Palais des Sports) with the ice rink.

It is also needed to enter all cafés, bars and restaurants throughout France, as well as some shopping centres, hospitals and any long distance public transport. However under current guidelines the pass is not needed for the free buses in the village.

The pass is also necessary for events and races of more than 50 people. Participants will need to show the pass when picking up their race pack.
The rules may evolve over the coming weeks and we will update this information regularly as the situation evolves.

Don't forget that a mask will be needed in all busy spaces where the pass is needed, and all busy spaces throughout the village, including outdoors. The government has also banned alcoholic drinks in public spaces from 6pm to 6am.

Covid Information : Increased capacity for antigen tests in Morzine-Avoriaz

Vaccinated travelers do not need to test before returning but must fill out a passenger locator form and reserve a "day 2" test to do within 2 days of returning to the UK.

Morzine has therefore increased capacity for testing..
The Grande Pharmacy, with the support of the Mairie, is now able to carry out 1 500 antigen tests per day from 8.30am to 8pm. The center is flexible and can even double this capacity, if necessary, during the Christmas holidays. The Grande Pharmacy is in the village centre, but if extra space is needed, in under 2 hours this can be moved to the Palais des Sports.
In Avoriaz, around 500 antigen tests are possible each day in the pharmacy and medical centre.
We strongly advising reserving on Doctolib.
Your telephone number must be shown in the format 00447…. And not +447….
Price : 25 euros per test in the week ; 30 euros per test on Sunday
Validity: 24 hours for the health pass. 48 hours for travel

The UK government accepts autotests whose results are certified by a laboratory for your return to the UK. However other tests, such as the free of charge NHS tests, are not considered valid for travel. Certified tests can be found from providors such as and who offer packages for the test to return and the day 2 PCR test.

Rules for ski lifts

The national incidence rate in France exceeds 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, so the sanitary pass is mandatory for access to ski lifts from the age of 12 years and 2 months, in addition to wearing a mask.
The Health Pass will be controlled by QR-code using the Tous Anti Covid Verif application*. The protocol provides for controls on people in ski lift sales offices, ski classes, and at the start of ski lifts.
Wearing a mask is compulsory from the age of 11 in all ski lifts and in the waiting lines. Masks are recommended for children aged 6 to 11. Only surface lifts and conveyor belts may be exempted from wearing masks if they are used by only one user at a time. Wearing a mask is not required while skiing.

Skiers are required to wear a surgical mask or a category 1 fabric mask (AFNOR SPEC S76-001 certification). Concerning neck gaiters, only those that are filtering and certified will be allowed as an alternative to masks. Very practical for skiing and adapted to this protocol, approved neck gaiters can be put on and taken off in a few seconds.

Skiers must respect distances between people or groups of people travelling together in the waiting lines. Protective measures must be applied throughout the ski area. Lift operators will make hand sanitizer available at relevant locations.

* The application recognizes QR-Codes issued in the European Union. Other people whose QR-code is not directly recognized by the application can go to French pharmacies to have their French Health Pass validated as long as they have been vaccinated with vaccines recognized by the EU.
