Covid-19 : How Morzine is preparing for your winter holiday in safety

Information on this page is updated regularly

Morzine is ready and waiting to welcome you

We are still awaiting confirmation from the Government as to when lifts can re-open and skiing can commence. However, Morzine is open for holidaymakers to enjoy the fresh mountain air and a wide range of activities. Boutiques are open and our restaurants are already offering takeaway meals. Click here for more information on what is open in February. Thank you for your patience, and above all your support.
This winter, more than ever we want to experience the joys of skiing, of freedom and nature, but we want to feel safe while we do so. The mountains offer an incredible natural playground, and with the vast space of the Portes du Soleil, there is plenty of space for everyone to feel at ease as they enjoy the fresh air. We’re taking safety seriously and have worked hard to ensure you can relax and enjoy time in Morzine. Strict hygiene measures are in place, activities have been specially adapted, but the same fresh open spaces are available to enjoy in safety.
Whether you’re at the lifts (once they are open!), Tourist Office, your accommodation, local transport, or our shops and restaurants you’ll be expected to wear a mask, will find hand sanitizer available, as well as the now ubiquitous reminders to wash your hands! We take your safety seriously and are putting all the necessary measures into place.
Mask-wearing is obligatory in all enclosed spaces.
Hand sanitiser is available.
Contact areas are regularly and thoroughly disinfected.

Distancing instructions and signs are in place. A one-way system must be followed in many businesses and the Tourist Office.

Morzine working on your safety

A special Morzine-Avoriaz Covid task force has been established by the Mairie (local government) which meets regularly and communicates all important information to local businesses and the public.
We ask you to comply with all measures put into place to ensure your safety. If you are unsure your accommodation provider can help inform you, and the Tourist Office will answer any questions you have.

The Ski Area

The Portes du Soleil ski area is planned to open as soon as the government allows us to.
New procedures were put into place across the Portes du Soleil this summer to ensure the safety of everyone. The lift companies implemented all health and safety measures specified by the government, in collaboration with the national operating body for ski areas.

You are encouraged to buy online to beat the queues and avoid contact with people –> Bonus: ski passes are cheaper on line.
Total reimbursement of unused passes is offered. Information on the cancellation and reimbursement conditions for ski passes is at the bottom of this page.

Ski Schools

Masks need to be worn at the beginning of the lesson by everyone over the age of 11. All material used is also disinfected between each use. All ski schools offer private lessons, and many offer small size group lessons, so you can choose the format that suits you.
We encourage you to book online to reduce contact on site. Any reservation that is cancelled due to Covid-19 will be fully refunded (proof needed). Please check with your provider at the time of booking for details.
