One Day First Aid Course.
This emergency first aid course provides the skills needed to preserve life whilst waiting for medical help, in an urban setting. We look at the remit and responsibilities of First Aid, how to assess an unknown, unconscious casualty and make life saving interventions. We teach the current methods of CPR and introduce defibrillators, before moving on to treating various types of injury. The emphasis is on maintaining life while waiting for medical help to arrive, in serious cases, also everyday first aid for cuts, bruises and common medical situations.
Two day First Aid course.
This course meets the requirements for Outdoor First Aid certificates required to validate UK National Governing Body / IOL standards. It is intended for mountain walkers, climbers, trail bikers and skiers. It is also suitable for anyone venturing away from roads, who may be leading others, or simply a member of a group. It involves classroom style presentations followed by practice in an outdoor environment. Assessment of unconscious casualties, current methods of CPR, use of defibrillators and the effects of the outdoors on casualty care is covered on day one. Day two covers different injuries and how to treat them plus more complicated multi-casualty scenarios.
