Mountain safety and avalanche rescue

The Mountain Safety and Avalanche workshop is for any outdoor enthusiasts wanting to journey in snowy environments, learn how to route plan and make good decisions for a safe passage.
Please enquire for further details.
The first part of the day is spent indoors, understanding avalanche risk and using available information sources to make safe route decisions. We then move outside on snowshoes to a safe area, to look at snowpack structure and practically assess safe route choice. We will practice using transceivers, probes and shovels to find casualties. The second half of the day is spent looking at rescue management, snow shelters, CPR and first aid for avalanche casualties.
