Flocon vert

Well aware of the climate emergency and the immediate need to change habits, Morzine and Avoriaz worked together on a project particularly close to their hearts: the Flocon Vert label.

This distinction, devised by the Mountain Riders association and previously awarded to only 8 other destinations, was awarded to Morzine-Avoriaz on September 9, 2021, and testifies to their commitment to implementing concrete actions in favor of the environment. Since then, other resorts have joined the scheme, and by late 2023 there were 22 certified resorts.

The Flocon Vert label is an approach guaranteeing the sustainable commitment of mountain destinations to environmental and social issues. Governance, transport, energy, development, water, waste, social issues….  everything is scrutinized to distinguish territories with a cutting-edge ecological transition policy. It enables resorts that take strong, comprehensive action to be recognized, while giving mountain lovers a clear vision of committed destinations.

Supported by the town council and the Morzine and Avoriaz tourist offices, this approach brings together various mountain players: ski lifts, socio-professionals and the Haut-Chablais Communauté de Communes, who meet regularly to implement an action plan based on a precise timetable and objectives. Far from representing an end, obtaining the label is a process of continuous improvement to guarantee more sustainable tourism for our holidaymakers, while maintaining a balance between the environment and the quality of life.

Several other projects are in the pipeline:
- Improvement and insulation work following an energy audit of communal buildings;
- Reflection on the treatment of bio-waste with the community of communes;
- A greenway project between Morzine and Les Gets, supported by the CCHC.
- Development and improvement of the cultural offer.
