Natural resources

  • Water: The mairie finances water butts for residents to increase use of rainwater.
  • Plans and studies are in place to be able to clean and use swimming pool water to water flowers in summer, and to recuperate rainwater from all municipal buildings.
  • Local association Montagne Verte has put into place since summer 2023 a bio waste collection scheme for local restaurants and hotels. Waste is collected on electric bike and trailer and taken for treatment locally.
  • Collection points: Our commune's waste is collected and processed by the Communauté de Communes du Haut-Chablais (CCHC).  Household waste, recyclable packaging and glass are collected at Points d'Apport Volontaire (PAV), equipped with semi-underground containers. Morzine has 25 PAVs and 107 semi-underground containers.
  • Waste sorting - picto CCHC
  • Tree concept - a new system for recycling office waste was introduced in October 2023 in all communal buildings, and recycling points for cigarette butts in the village will be in place in January 2024.
  • Organization of two clean up days in Morzine and Avoriaz at the end of the winter season as part of the Mountain Riders zero waste program: https://www.mountain-riders.org/montagne-zero-dechet/edito/
  • Energy - Progressive transformation of communal lighting. Reduction of night-time lighting by zone. Gradual replacement of lighting with more energy-efficient systems (LED).
  • Energy renovation diagnosis of municipal buildings, and long-term plans for the gradual improvement and insulation of these properties.
  • Elimination of certain printed guides and reductions of print quantities of others to optimize waste.
  • Communal buildings are heated by a wood-fired boiler that feeds a heating network, with local (Rhone Alps) suppliers of wood chips.
