1975: 48 years ago, Morzine hosted one of the most famous bike races for the first time in its history.
2023: the Tour de France returns to Morzine for the 22nd time, just one year after its last visit!


Watching the Tour de France in Morzine
 
Friday 14th July
On the tourist office square during the day: trial show with Simon Masi, children's entertainment, official Tour de France store, and above all the Grand Colombier stage live on a giant screen.
9 am. Meet on the Tourist Office square for free bike tests with Cervélo and SRAM.
 
The women of Donnons des Elles will arrive over the Joux Plane into the centre of Morzine, finishing by the Tourist Office around 7pm. Come down to welcome them into Morzine!
Donnons des Elles is an association of female cycling ambassadors who are riding each stage of the Tour de France one day before the male peloton.
 
Saturday 15th July
The stage will finish in the centre of Morzine in front of the Tourist Office. The caravane will pass through the village around 3.44pm, and the riders around a half hour to an hour after. Head in early on foot or bike to grab a spot close to the finish to see the riders heading in after this gruelling stage.  There are plenty of options to find food and drink in the many restaurants and cafés in Morzine.
 
A Fan zone will be waiting for you at col du Ranfolly from midday to 5.50pm (after the broom wagon passes). You can watch the entire 14th stage of the Tour de France on a large screen with drinks, food and entertainment.  The caravane will pass the col around 3.27pm, and the riders around a half hour to an hour after.
 
The Nyon gondola and Charniaz chairlift will be open to take visitors to the col, with a free shuttle linking the top of the gondola to the chairlift.
 
The Charniaz chairlift will be open from 10am to 7pm to take visitors up to the col.
 
Access to the chairlift :
From the Pleney gondola (opening at 9am).
From the Nyon cable car (opening at 10am). Possible to go by foot to Charniaz or via a minibus provided by Le Pleney to take you as close as possible to the chairlift.
The Nyon cable car will close at 7:30pm.

Return trip Charniaz chairlift = €5
Return trip Nyon cable car or Pleney gondola + Return trip Charniaz = €11.50
Use of the Charniaz chairlift is included with a valid Multi Pass (as are the cable car and gondola).
Portes du Soleil lift passes also include access to the chairlift.

The folowing lifts will open late on Saturday 15th until 8pm.

- Ardent gondola lift
The communes of Morzine and Montriond will provide the corresponding shuttle service.

Tour de France lift passes can be purchased at Morzine lift ticket offices from Thursday 13/07 (not available online). We advise you to buy in advance.

Sunday 16th July
The 15th stage leaves from our neighbour Les Gets. Entertainment starts at 9.30 on the podium, before the caravane leaves at 11.05 and the peloton at 13.05.
Free buses are circulating between “Le Plénéy” in Morzine and the roundabout de la Colombière in Les Gets from 7am to 5pm, with a bus about every 15 minutes.
How to get to and from Morzine during the Tour de France
 
On the 15th and 16th of July many roads will be closed to traffic. If you are arriving or leaving on these dates you should head to Morzine via Thonon rather than Cluses and Taninges.
 
We advise you to use the Waze app (a Tour de France partner), which will have up to date information on road closures.
 
- Friday July 14: a partial closure of the village centre from 4pm
- Saturday July 15: road closure from Taninges towards Morzine from 1:00 pm to 5:15 pm
         Morzine centre will be closed to traffic from 5am to 10pm
- Sunday July 16: road closure from Taninges towards Morzine 6:00 am to 2:15 pm
 
These timings are subject to change if the police deem this necessary, roads may close earlier than planned or reopen later.
 
Please be aware that many roads in Morzine centre will be closed on these days so you may not be able to drive directly to your accommodation. This information is detailed by date and hour in the document you can download here.
 
The village center's car parks will be used by the Tour de France organization and teams. There will be parking spaces allocated for visitors:
- Ardoisières valley to Prodains
- Nyon parking lot
- several parking lots on the route de la Plagne
A free shuttle service will take you from these parking spaces to Morzine:
- Prodains and Nyon: drop-off and pick-up at the cemetery bend, route de la Manche.
- Route de la Plagne parking lots: drop-off and pick-up at the bottom of the TDM des Frênes.
Shuttles will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
