5 great ideas for easy hikes setting out from Morzine

As ever, Morzine continues to nurture and develop its tradition of a warm welcome and is repositioning itself as a sought-after destination for mountain holidays focussing on relaxation and well-being. Walking, long-recognised for its health benefits, turns out to be all the more beneficial when enjoyed in the pure air of the soothing and replenishing countryside. There are a number of easy hikes leaving from Morzine, none of them steep, making them accessible to most.

The Dérêches Park, an enormous lush haven in the heart of Morzine

Take some time to stroll along the banks of the river Dranse, flowing through the heart of the Dérêches Park.  The full route follows a loop of 4.5km – go for the full tour or a shorter section of it. An all-time favourite!

The Crests of Pléney and Super Morzine

Accessed using the lift system, the Crests of Pléney, on one side of the village and the Crests of Super Morzine, on the opposite, offer a variety of sun-soaked marked pedestrian pathways meandering to magnificent viewpoints over the valley and to the surrounding peaks. Hop on the Super Morzine bubble followed by the Zore chairlift, follow a forestry track towards the Col de la Croix des Combes and find yourself immersed in the lush countryside between Morzine and Avoriaz. A cheeky highlight is the opportunity to stop for a delicious and well-earned bite in a restaurant on the slopes or relax and sunbathe on a high-altitude terrace.

Lake Montriond, just outside Morzine

With a touch of Canada to the landscape, this spot offers a pretty, circular route of about 3km around the shores of the third largest natural lake in Haute-Savoie. If you’re feeling energetic continue on up along the track through the forest to be rewarded with the sights and sounds of the Ardent waterfall.

Good to know: A free shuttle bus runs between Morzine and Lake Montriond.
