The Morzine Tourist Office also offers a large number of activities throughout the season for you to have a good time with your family and leave with great memories of your family ski holidays. Check the weekly programme on line to find out information on the free shows, workshops and fun activities to ensure children are entertained off the ski slopes, as well as on them.

Ski shops and rental companies have a wide range of equipment suitable for your whole family. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone will find what they need, thanks to the knowledge and advice of mountain professionals.

Morzine, a family-friendly ski area

In the family ski area of Morzine-Les Gets, everything has been thought of while adapting and installing beginners’ areas and slopes. These are interactive and fun spaces to learn how to ski, but also to understand the wild life of the mountain.

Special beginner passes are available for the Pleney area, the Nyon area and for Avoriaz. These passes offer great value for beginners. Young children taking their first family ski holiday France will most likely start in the children’s garden, Piou Piou at the base of the slopes in the village. Instructors will help them learn to control skis and gain confidence on the snow, in a safe child friendly environment. Plenty of fun modules and games keep them excited and interested in skiing, as well as the occasional visit from Piou Piou! Parents can head off to ski or watch little ones from the side.

Another beginner area on top of the Pleney is available to all. Gentle slopes make this the perfect place to gain confidence before heading further afield. A special beginner area is complemented by a few very gentle slopes close by and some fun areas for kids. The Penguin Park has been completely remodelled for winter 22-23. The Penguin Park, version 2.0, is specially designed for little ones. Look out for a giant xylophone, totem poles, arches and all sorts of other exciting things for children’s amusement. Make a date to visit this larger, more playful – and even more fun – recreation area for children and teenagers. As for the Chemin des Zouzous, the special animal piste, it is now dotted with statues of mountain animals, new information panels, and more visible signposts to create a bigger learning experience.

The beginner area in Nyon sees a new covered magic carpet lift and for winter 22-23 the boardercross and snow park will be completely remodeled. These are bigger than ever, but with easier jumps than many of the huge parks, Nyon is a great place for young skiers to try out snow park riding! If your family ski holiday in france has some non-skiers or little ones too young to hit the slopes, this is the also the area to head to. A ride up to the Nyon plateau in the telepherique brings you to the Pointe de Nyon restaurant with a free ball pit and soft play, plus a sledging area. The Aigles du Leman have their winter base here so you can learn about the birds native to our mountains, see flying displays, and do an educational walk with information on mountain animals and birds. Meet up with skiers for lunch and watch the amazing eagles fly around! In Nyon you’ll also find the Pas de l’Aigle viewing platform at the summit for incredible views of Lake Geneva round to Mont Blanc!

If you head up Super Morzine to ski on the Avoriaz side then don’t miss the Lil’Stash. An all-wood fun park and playground for kids on the ski pistes. With swoops, berms, little jumps and lots of fun, kids will then find themselves in the Proclou forest. You’ll find perched huts and barbecues, suspended walkways, slides, ropes, sculptures and games in the heart of the forest. This enchanted forest also hides the Yeti Shreddie. He has been living in one of the huts for over 10 years. A place where children rule! It’s the ideal place to have fun with your family.

Family activities off the pistes

Being a family ski resort doesn’t just mean having great pistes and fun zones for kids, it’s also about everything that can be done off the pistes!

After skiing kids will often want to stay playing in the snow and sledge! Special sledging areas are also accessible at the bottom of the Pleney slopes at village level, to enjoy a playful moment on the snow. Sledges are available for rent in many shops, and some accommodation providers offer sledges on loan.

Another great family area is the Mines d’Or Experiences in the Vallée de la Manche, a 10 minute free bus ride from the village centre. As well as snowshoe routes and cross-country skiing, you’ll find an igloo to explore, statues of animals and another sledging area! Away from the lifts, it’s the perfect place for some family time in nature.

The Tourist Office square has been pedestrianised since 2022 and offers a great space for kids to visit and play after skiing. A big Christmas tree, an outdoor ice rink, and all the free activities and games put on by the Tourist Office team. With many bars and restaurants around it’s also a great place for parents to enjoy some après-ski! Don’t miss the free welcome drink offered by the Tourist Office every Monday to find out what’s happening during the week of your family ski holidays France.

The Tourist Office can also help give you information on all the other activities on offer, from guided snowshoe walks, to night sledging to a parapente flight. There are plenty of different activities to do and keep the whole family happy!

You will find another indoor ice rink at the Palais de Sports where you can skate, or watch a thrilling Ice Hockey match. Next door in the pool centre, you’ll find three pools and a well-being area to sooth any sore muscles while kids splash about!

There’s also a cinema in the village with lots of different films to enjoy, and some Escape Rooms – perfect if you want some indoor entertainment!

The Morzine Tourist Office also offers a free children’s area. There are toys and games to play with, and space to sit down and rest out of the cold. This is a great facility for anyone with little ones that need a little play and break while wandering in the village.
