A 2023 double whammy with both the Tour de France and the Etape du Tour coming to Morzine!

1975: 48 years ago, Morzine hosted one of the most famous bike races for the first time in its history.
2023: the Tour de France returns to Morzine for the 22nd time, just one year after its last visit!

2023: the Tour de France returns to Morzine for the 22nd time, just one year after its last visit!
In 2022 the peloton spent a well-earned rest day in Morzine on the 11th of July, after their finish in Châtel the day before. The 12th saw the riders departing from Morzine for their 10th stage, taking the long route to Megeve.
In 2023, for the 110th Tour de France, Morzine will be hosting a stage finish on the 15th of July after a grueling route from Annemasse, finishing by climbing 2 passes around Morzine: the col de la Ramaz and the famous col de Joux Plane before descending into Morzine and the finish line.
And just 6 days before this, amateur riders will have the chance to ride the exact same stage as the pros in the Etape du Tour event. The Etape du Tour gives amateur riders the opportunity to ride one of the mountain stages of the Tour de France, with the same stage towns, the same roads, the same mythical climbs, and also the same conditions as the Tour. It’s the only cyclosportive where roads are entirely closed to traffic. Morzine last hosted an Etape du Tour in 2016, and is now preparing for 16,000 cyclists to attempt this challenge on the 9th of July 2023.
