After 2020 was overwhelmed by the health crisis, the winter season 2021-2022 marks the return of major events in Morzine for the delight of all, locals and tourists.
While last summer was rich in events, this winter season will see a wide range of events and the return of the usual activities that made your holidays in our resort a success! If most of you come to Morzine primarily for skiing, it is true that the charm of the village, but also its dynamism and the constant organization of activities and events, make you feel good here and it’s with joy that we want to bring this back.
In particular, this winter, we will see the big comeback of what made the destination famous: Rock the Pistes Festival (Free concerts organised on the ski domain of the Portes du Soleil), the Ladies Night Tour, (a slalom ski competition between the best French female skiers), “La Course des Champions”...
Time to experience the snow holidays of your dreams
Morzine is a lively and well-organised resort, with ski lifts from the centre of the village, numerous shops, a wide range of accommodation and restaurants, and various infrastructures and activities. Our activities and events will enhance your stay to offer you excellent memories and make you want to come back !Bruno Robinet, project manager at the Morzine-Avoriaz tourist office, explains that “Our programming follows a logic of “highlights” through the season, which obviously correspond to school holidays. The Christmas holidays are traditionally devoted to fairy tales: lights, fairy street shows and end-of-year atmosphere. The February holidays offer entertainment every day. Finally, the last period of the winter (March/April) sounds more festive with spring skiing and the Rock the Pistes Festival”.
3 main events and spots to discover this winter in Morzine
A Spartan Weekend to start off the season with a Spartan Winter Trail and a Spartan Kids
That's the major new event of the season! In December, the Morzine resort offers a winter version for children of the famous obstacle course, the Kids Spartan Race, which will eventually become the “National Spartan Kids Final”.During the same weekend, we take this opportunity to offer a winter race for adults, without obstacles, on the paths that make the summer Spartan Race a success in Morzine. It's called the Spartan Winter Trail. Save the dates for the 11th and 12th of December 2021!
Mines d'Or Experience in the Erigné area: an area entirely dedicated to Nordic activities
The Erigné area will be improved with a concept called “Mines d'Or Experience”: a space entirely dedicated to Nordic activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking trails, igloo, children's playground in the snow, an area for biathlon initiation, weekly entertainment... This will be the place to discover in the Manche valley for all sorts of Nordic activities.The “Mines d'Or Odyssées” sports days, in partnership with ESF and the Chablais Geopark, are being extended this winter to 4 dates, with a revised format for an even more enjoyable experience and for us to be able to host more participants.
Ski touring evenings
Let's also mention that ski touring evenings will be organised this winter in partnership with ESF – Ecole du Ski Français. Once a month, on the evenings of the full moon, ski touring enthusiasts or all those who want to discover it should book their slot to experience ski touring, night skiing, both uphill and downhill.
