Ideas for visits, walks and activities to do this autumn in Morzine

Presentation

The ski lifts are closed until the snow returns; the village is much quieter than in high tourist season, but autumn is the perfect time to rediscover it from another angle and at a more relaxed pace. Take time to stroll through the village and observe the charming details of its alleys; go for a heritage visit or take the opportunity to discover other activities. We have listed a few ideas to make it easier for you ...

Places to Visit in Morzine and its surroundings

The Church of Sainte Marie Madeleine, located in the historic heart of the village, is worth a detour with its bulbous bell tower, its undulating baroque facade and its neoclassical interior. If you decide to open the doors of this church, you will see frescoes by Laurent Baud, a local painter.

La Battante, very close to the entrance to the Parc des Dérêches, opposite the Aquatic Center, is a historical reconstruction of an old swing sawmill which produced planks and beams in the 19th century, thanks to the driving force of the water. The site is open all year round and free to visit.

The Morzine cheese dairy is one of the resort's must-see places, as it showcases genuine local know-how. Every Wednesday morning, from 9 a.m. (by appointment for groups), the cheese-making site is open to the public and you can attend a guided tour. You can also decide to make a free visit every day between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The site is open all year round and the visit is free.

Road biking is a sport that you can enjoy without difficulty in this season. You just need to be equipped with warm clothes (in particular to avoid cold snaps when going down the cols). The milder temperatures can also be an advantage to face the slopes of the Joux Plane, Joux Verte or the climb between Morzine and Avoriaz.

Mountain biking
If the ski lifts are currently closed, this is no reason to put away your mountain bike for the winter. Nothing prevents you from riding on the paths and trails around the village and taking the opportunity to improve your cross-country technique.
