Morzine welcomes Tour de France

For this 2022 summer, the Tour de France made a step in Morzine. For bicycle lovers and Haute-Savoie supporters, it was a pleasure to share this moment.
The Tour de France and Morzine have known each other for 47 years now. Since 1975, we have had the honor of welcoming cylists to our beautiful village in Haute-Savoie. Several french winners have ridden our valley such as Bernard Hinault, Thierry Claveyrolat and Richard Virenque.
This year, with a departure from Copenhagen, we had the privilege of welcoming the Tour de France teams for the rest day on July 11th and to see them leave on July 12th to go to Megève.

Throwback to the Morzine-Megève stage
It was the first alpine stage of the Tour de France route. Simon Geschke was wearing the polka dot jersey, and 24 hours earlier Magnus Cort was wearing the same jersey for 7 days before losing it Châtel. During the stage, he positioned himself among a 25 runners group.
During the long final climb before Megève, the German preserved his 2nd position, then benefited from a regrouping which put an end to the hopes of Luis Meon Sanchez in the last kilometer.
With ten riders still in the game, he maneuvered to engage in a duel with Nick Schultz. With a tiny gap, he won his second stage of the Tour de France, after winning in Carcassonne in 2018 and also 6 stages of the Vuelta. In the group of breakaways, Lennard Kämna experienced a second frustration after the Super Planche des Belles Filles, since Tadej Pogacar defended for 11 "The Yellow Jersey which the German was able to dream of during the final part of the stage".
Perched at an altitude of more than 1,000m, the Morzine-Avoriaz resort offers you magnificent tourist routes, including part of the Route des Grandes Alpes. Magnificent road of 680 kilometers, linking Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean, passing through the most beautiful places in the Alps. You will find varied routes for all levels. There are 16 mapped routes departing from Morzine in front of the Tourist Office in Town Hall. The routes in general are 30 to 150 kilometers with a variation on the difficulty of the route.
