Chamossière Freeriding Ski Area

The Chamossière Freeriding Ski Area in the Morzine-Les Gets ski area is the perfect place for experienced skiers looking to have some fun in the powder snow. This area at an altitude of 2,000 metres is a vast, open valley that is ideal for freeriding, and can be easily reached using the Chamossière chairlift. Thanks to the wide-open space, varied terrain and level of altitude, Chamossière benefits from natural snow cover for the whole of winter. The area is north-west facing and so it is protected from the sun, which comes with the guarantee of excellent skiing conditions right up until the end of the season.

Don’t forget the safety equipment

Wherever you choose to go skiing, either on the slopes or off-piste, be careful and always follow the safety rules. Before setting off, make sure you check the snow conditions and any risk of avalanche. You could ask the ski patrollers for advice so that you don’t go the wrong way.

Freeriding is an activity that can be risky and requires extensive experience of the mountains. Never overestimate your ability. It’s always better to turn around and go back the way you came, rather than take risks! Make sure you have all the right safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, etc.) and don’t hesitate to get in touch with a professional instructor.

Hire a Ski Instructor for Safe Skiing

If you’re a beginner or unfamiliar with the ski area, we highly recommend hiring a ski instructor or a mountain guide to accompany you on your freeride outings.

Specializing in this discipline, they will provide you with valuable advice and ensure you discover this activity safely. They will guide you to the most suitable freeride areas within the Morzine-Les Gets and Portes du Soleil ski domains, based on snow conditions and terrain quality.
