The sector of Nyon is getting a second life. On the Nyon plateau, a new leisure area awaits you. It combines hiking and mountain discovery with a whole new program to enjoy your summer holidays in the mountains and in the heart of nature.
Access to Nyon by cable car from the center of Morzine
Whether by free shuttle from the center of Morzine or by car, access to Pointe de Nyon is very easy.The first option, which is also the easiest, is to get to the Nyon car park by car, by free shuttle or even on foot by walking along the « chemin du Renard » from the center of the village. From this free car park located about 2 km from Morzine in the direction of the « vallée de la Manche », you will have to take the brand new escalator which will drop you off at the reception / cash desk of the cable car. You will then only need a few minutes by cable car to reach the Nyon plateau. While you are in the cable car, the change of scenery begins ! You can enjoy the view over the Morzine valley and the surrounding area.
You can also easily access the Nyon plateau by car by taking the road leading to the Col de Joux Plane.
Nyon, the starting point for many hikes around Morzine
The area at the top of the cable car is the starting point for several hikes which have the advantage of being accessible to all. The different routes have different levels so that the whole family can enjoy the walk and the surrounding nature. You don't need to be a first class mountaineer or athlete to be able to enjoy these paths.There is a path from the Nyon plateau which allows a beautiful walk of about an hour and that will take you to the top of Nyon from where you can contemplate a unique landscape with a view of the main peaks of Chablais. From there, you will even have the chance to see the famous Lake Geneva .
Another fairly easy hike tis the one that leads you to the Nyon-Guérin lake. This is an artificial lake, but with magnificent blue water and it is located in a such a beautiful green environment, you can only love it. It was created to power water for snow cannons.
The advantage of going for a walk in the Nyon sector is that it is dedicated to hiking and therefore to pedestrians. You will then encounter very few mountain bikers during your walk.
A new fun hiking trail to discover
Only a few meters from the upper station of the Nyon cable car, a new educational trail offers a hike of about an hour. It was recently created to give you the opportunity to (re) discover the surrounding fauna.You can make your hike interactive, using an application with which you can list the animals you may have the chance to see during your walk. Information panels have also been set up with explanations that will teach you more about the local fauna inhabiting our beautiful mountains of Morzine.
Not to be missed in Morzine, the new footbridge " Le Pas de l'Aigle "
As if clinging to the mountain at an altitude of 2,019 meters, this brand new 15-meter-long glass footbridge, open to the public from July 9, 2021, will offer you a 360 ° panorama and a superb view between Mont-Blanc and Lake Geneva. Imagine the wonderful photos you can take from there!If you want to go to Pas de l'Aigle, access is only via the Pointe de Nyon chairlift.
To go back down, two options are available. You can take the chairlift back to the Nyon plateau and enjoy the view without having to make the slightest effort.
As for those who would like to continue their hike, they can take a trail leading down to the Nyon-Guérin lake. They might want to stop at the restaurant near by which will offer you in addition to their good meals, a multitude of new activities.
Note : For the sake of comfort and environmental protection, ecological toilets powered by solar panels are available at the top of Pointe de Nyon.
Entertainment and shows at the Pointe de Nyon Restaurant
Discovering alpine life, flora and fauna and biodiversity, this is what the Pointe de Nyon restaurant team will introduce you to this summer with their brand new activities. On the program, a free educational mini farm, organized visit, entertainment and shows around the shepherd's work organized all day long. Raptors will also fly over the guests during the meal and children will love to play at the leisure area located in the restaurant with a giant ball pool and life-size shepherd's game.Practical information on the Nyon sector
