[Bål was born in 2021 from a desire to think and create objects inspired by nature. A plant universe composed of flowering candles, scented wreaths and soliflores.
Flower candles, scented wreaths and soliflores make up the range.
Each piece is unique and handmade with love in Morzine in the Alps.
After several years as a Zero Waste advisor in different shops, I wanted to pass on my knowledge and my love for nature through plant-based & eco-responsible creations.
[Bål] means “Campfire” in Norwegian, an invitation to share and a call to the wild world. A poetic and warm universe inspired by the beautiful mountains that surround me.
[Bål] is above all carefully chosen local raw materials and a desire to promote French craftsmanship with partners who share my values.
The clay pots in which the candles are poured are made very close to the workshop by a young potter from Seytroux: Gaël Tavernier.
The dried flowers come from small French farms and are grown with respect and passion.
The fragrances are also French, they are made in Grasse, the capital of perfume. The wicks are made of French beech wood with the FSC label (from forests managed in an environmentally and socially responsible manner)
The candles [ Bål ] are cast from rapeseed wax which is the most ecological alternative to traditional waxes on the market. Made from rapeseed flower, this wax is biodegradable, natural, eco-responsible, vegan, without GMOs or toxic substances released during combustion. Indeed, it is mainly grown in Europe, which minimises the carbon footprint of its importation. In addition, rapeseed is grown in rotation, absorbing nitrogen and breaking the cycle of weeds and diseases, reducing the amount of fertiliser and pesticides used for subsequent crops.
I like to propose different “capsule” collections that are inspired by the nature that surrounds me and my various daily encounters.
The “Murmures Sauvages” collection was born from a mallow harvest in Saint Jean d’Aulps that I dried myself in the workshop and transformed into a 100% local candle with the sweet scent of Spruce Honey.
Beyond this poetic and flowery universe, it is important for me to make my customers aware of an eco-responsible approach. This is how nature’s riches take on their full meaning and protecting them becomes a priority.
Local and reasonable resources are important but it is also fundamental to intervene on the whole chain of creation to try to limit its impact.
No invoice, business card or thank you note accompanies the shipment, thus limiting unnecessary waste.
The few labels that are present are made from French seeded paper or grass clippings. The cushioning and cardboard boxes are recovered from local merchants who have no use for them.
My wish through the creations [ Bål ] is to make everyday life more green through local, artisanal and eco-responsible decoration.
