The magnificent mountain biking area of the Portes du Soleil offers enthusiasts a multitude of trails for all levels across 12 stations spanning France and Switzerland. Whether you’re into downhill biking, enduro, cross-country, or e-biking, everyone appreciates the experience and infrastructure of the Portes du Soleil, which has established a true mountain biking culture here.

The Portes du Soleil area

Over the years, the Portes du Soleil has become a reference destination for mountain bikers from around the world. A must-visit during the summer for many, so why not you? You can set off from one of the 12 interconnected stations in the area. Morzine is located right in the heart of the domain, allowing you to quickly reach Les Gets or, on the opposite side, Avoriaz, heading towards the Swiss stations. You can use nearly 30 ski lifts to access no less than 600 km of mountain biking trails and paths. For the more ambitious, an 80 km circuit allows you to complete a full tour of the Portes du Soleil. It’s a fun challenge to tackle with friends!

Every year, the Portes du Soleil also hosts a major event centered around this sport: the Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB. It’s one of the most anticipated summer events for mountain biking enthusiasts. This is a non-timed mountain biking course from station to station. You ride and enjoy the numerous refreshment stops, where local specialties, drinks, and entertainment await you!

It’s a great way to kick off your season while discovering the Portes du Soleil, its landscapes, and its local products.

The Morzine-Avoriaz Area

Halfway between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, Morzine-Avoriaz is at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest mountain biking domains in the world. In the 1990s, Morzine-Avoriaz was one of the first resorts to reimagine its winter ski area as a summer MTB domain, opening the Pléney downhill track in 1996.

In summer, over 25 lifts equipped for transporting mountain bikes whisk you to the summits between France and Switzerland. Whether you want to race down the slopes, hike, or simply unwind, there’s a trail or path for every mountain biker.

Morzine’s central location allows riders to return to the village by gravity from most of the Portes du Soleil lifts. Here, you’ll find a genuine mountain biking culture with tailored infrastructure, specialized shops, and a friendly “after-MTB” atmosphere.

Mountain biking in Morzine-Avoriaz includes :

• Black, red, blue, and green trails accessible via the Pléney cable car and the Super Morzine cable car.
• Specific signage on the trails and paths for better visibility of mountain biking routes.
• Morzine is ideally located at the heart of this domain, allowing for quick access to Les Gets or Avoriaz. This proximity is perfect for a 100% mountain biking holiday in Morzine.
