Place du Village

– The war memorial.
Following the 1914-1918 war, communes erected monuments to the dead. Morzine chose “Le poilu monter au front en chantant” as its model. The cast-iron statue was sand-cast after the original work by sculptor Charles Edouard Richelieu (1868-1945). The monument, inaugurated on October 2, 1921, honors 61 names.
– The square, lined with now-defunct buildings, included a market hall overlooking the river, attached to the old bridge. This wooden structure housed the market and festivals.
