Itinerary details
Description
Follow the path slightly uphill along the edge of the cliff (children should be well restrained) and follow the yellow circles on the ground to the Combe du Machon (1,775m). Continue to La Chaux (1,750m) and Plan du Vieux Chalet (1,710m). You may see, but you'll certainly hear, marmots whistling! Another 20-minute descent to the Morzinette chalets.
Morzinette (1600m) is a mountain pasture with cows, traditional chalets and a lovely view of the Ardoisières cliff. Retrace your steps to head for “Pied de la Sute”. The path descends steeply through the forest to Les Covagnes via the Plan des Rochers (forest track).
From Les Covagnes, take the cable car up to Avoriaz.
