Summer is approaching fast and you’re still not sure where to go for your holiday? Look no further, Morzine is the destination for you! The mountains are increasingly popular in summer, and it’s no wonder, because here you’ll find everything you need for a fabulous holiday!

Here’s our list of the TOP 5 reasons to come to Morzine this summer:

1- To be at one with nature

Hiking is the perfect way to explore the mountains and all those lovely nature spots. With trails suitable for all levels, Morzine is a heavenly place to try hiking for the first time!
Take to the heights and admire breathtaking views, from the Pointe de Nyon for example, which offers an exceptional panorama stretching from Lake Geneva to Mont Blanc.

A word of advice: if you go hiking with your smartphone, download Google Lens or a similar app to identify the different species of flowers that you’ll find along the way. Crocus, gentian, edelweiss, forget-me-not… the mountains of Haute-Savoie are festooned with a variety of wild flowers and you might be interested in finding out more about them!

2- Swimming in the mountains

For many people, summer goes hand in hand with swimming and sunbathing. Well, you can do that here too! So don’t forget to pack your towel, swimwear and suncream, they may well come in handy…
The pool complex in Dérêches Park is open all summer. The indoor and outdoor pools invite children to splash about and play in the water jets and fountains, while the adults have fun getting some exercise and perfecting their swimming techniques in the main pool. After your dip, make the most of the terrace to enjoy a nice cold drink!

To swim in natural surroundings, head for Montriond Lake and its lakeside facilities where you can cool off and enjoy a quiet break. Walk around the lake to find the perfect spot to spend a pleasant moment and enjoy the view.

3- Activites for the whole family

Summer luge

Sledging isn’t just a winter activity! From 9 July, you can hurtle down the summer luge runs installed at Le Pléney (from the top of the Crusaz chairlift). You can choose between a thrilling, steep descent that gets the adrenalin flowing, and a gentler run for the less daring.

Golf and crazy golf

We’ve just mentioned Montriond Lake as a bathing spot, but there are other activities there that should appeal to the whole family, including a crazy-golf course where you can perfect your swing! As you progress around the course, you’ll discover the curiosities of the Aulps Valley.
There are also two ‘proper’ golf courses for adults who prefer to play a round of standard golf in a wide open space. One is in Avoriaz, the other in Les Gets.

Horseriding

At Morzine riding stables you can go hacking, take beginner lessons or a whole course, not to mention all the activities organised for children relating to farm animals and ponies. Whether you’ve ridden before or have never even sat on a horse, we guarantee you’ll go away with fabulous memories of your experience in the company of these adorable animals!

Orienteering

Within Dérêches Park, there are twenty or so orienteering markers dotted around a course for you to complete as quickly as possible. A course that puts your orienteering skills to the test as you have family fun in the heart of nature! Pick up a map at the Tourist Office reception desk, or at the sports centre.
