Every summer, mountain bikers flock to Morzine to make the most of this exceptional MTB playground. Tucked in the heart of the Portes du Soleil MTB area, the biggest in Europe, the variety of trails in our bike park offer a host of possibilities to mountain biking enthusiasts of all levels.

Morzine Bike Park
For the weekend starting Friday 3 June, and then from 17 June 2022, the Morzine lifts will be open to take you to the start of various trails and E-bike itineraries.
From the Pléney and Super Morzine gondola lifts, take your pick from the black, red, blue and green trails. From the Super Morzine sector, mountain bikers can reach Avoriaz and even continue into Switzerland. In all, more than 600 km of trails await you in the Portes du Soleil MTB area. There’s something for everyone!

For novices and children who want to have a go at mountain biking on easier, less crowded slopes, we recommend you try the blue trails, such as Cap Canaveral or Atray. If, on the other hand, you’re a mountain biker who appreciates the thrill of speed, then trails like Noire de Morzine or Da Trail should appeal to you.

Tips for MTB novices
If you’ve never tried mountain biking but fancy having a go this summer, our advice should help you appreciate the experience.
For a start, make sure you’re properly equipped. Here are the MTB essentials:

  • Water (in a flask or, lighter and more practical, a water bladder)
  • Sunglasses (opt for sport sunglasses that remain in place better, even on bumpy terrain)
  • Gloves (to avoid getting blisters on your hands due to heat and rubbing)
  • An MTB helmet + knee pads
  • Light, comfortable clothing suitable for the weather conditions (remember to take a cagoule, it’s light to carry in your bag and you never know when you might need it!)

And of course, the most essential item of all: a mountain bike.

Choosing the right MTB
To be sure you pick the right model for you, we recommend you go to a sports shop and ask the experts. They’ll be able to advise you. Because your choice of mountain bike depends on your level, discipline and preference:

  • Cross-country: A lighter MTB for better uphill performance and faster times;
  • Enduro: An MTB designed mainly for downhill;
  • Trail: A versatile MTB for forest trails and steep terrain;
  • All mountain: For exploring the mountains, an MTB that performs well both uphill and downhill;
  • Downhill: as its name suggests, this MTB range is designed for downhill, absorbing the repeated shock waves generated on the terrain around the resort.

In short, whether you head for flat, quiet trails or venture onto steep, technically challenging slopes, what matters most is that you let off steam, enjoy the views and have a great time!

Ride in good company with an MTB instructor
To try mountain biking for the first time, or perfect your technique, you may decide to call upon a qualified instructor to guide and advise you, whatever your age.
For a family outing, private lessons or an all-day course, don’t hesitate to enquire about the different services provided by the MTB schools and instructors.
Are you put off by the physical effort involved in cycling? Looking for a different way to explore the region? Opt for an E-MTB!
Morzine and the Portes du Soleil MTB area offer an endless playground. With more than 500 km of waymarked trails, MTB maps, a dedicated ‘Portes du Soleil Summer’ app, bike rentals at all the resort’s sports shops, charging terminals across the entire MTB area and instructors always on hand, electric mountain biking is an appealing activity that anyone can try, to see the mountains from a brand new angle.
