How do you fancy testing a thrilling new ride during your summer holiday in the mountains? Are you up for it? If so, the summer luge is just the thing for you.
In case you were wondering, no, this does not involve sliding down grassy slopes as you might expect. Instead, you’ll whiz down a track on a specially adapted sledge. It’s now been 20 years since Morzine joined those resorts in Haute-Savoie that have their own summer luge ride.
A great way to admire the mountains from an alternative angle, while having fun into the bargain.

You don’t need snow to go sledging

But what exactly is the summer luge ?

The principle is quite simple. First, you have to buy tickets at the Pléney ski lift cash desks. Next, take the Crusaz chairlift to what we call the middle station. This gives you time to admire the beautiful scenery of the French Alps and the Morzine valley.
When you arrive, you’ll take one of the special sledges, put on the helmet provided (compulsory) and enjoy the thrilling ride down!<br>There are two tracks. Firstly, the Cool run. This is 800 metres long and ideal for novices and children. Be aware that children under the age of 3 years are not allowed on the summer luge, and those under 8 years must ride with an adult. The second summer luge track is called the Super run. 900 metres long, it is a bit steeper and has more bends (16 in all). This run for adults and children aged 14 and above should get the adrenalin flowing.

The summer luge, an activity for the whole family

What’s so great about the summer luge is that anyone from the age of 3 can have a go! So what are you waiting for? Come along and race the kids on the toboggan runs just next to the Stadium. An exhilarating experience to share with the family. When you reach the bottom, go to the stand to see your thrilling moment captured forever in a photo, which you may choose to purchase as a souvenir of your summer holiday in Morzine.
