SUNDAY, AUGUST 3 – STAGE 9: PRAZ-SUR-ARLY > CHÂTEL LES PORTES DU SOLEIL: 124 KM
The Tour de France Women passes through Morzine!
On Sunday August 3, the 9th and final stage of the Tour de France Femmes with Zwift takes place in the heart of the Portes du Soleil. After crossing the dreaded Col de Joux Plane, the riders will descend at high speed towards Morzine, which they will cross before starting the ascent of the Col du Corbier towards Châtel, the end of this 124 km stage, 100% Haute-Savoie.
ESTIMATED TIMES IN MORZINE AND ROAD CLOSURES :
– Passage of the caravan: 4:25 p.m.
– First runners in Morzine: between 5.20pm and 5.40pm (crossing the Col de Joux Plane about 10-15 minutes before, i.e. between 5pm and 5.20pm).
– Road closures in Morzine on the race route at 3pm, estimated reopening no later than 7pm (with exceptions: Col de Joux Plane from Grand Pré closed from 10am / Col du Corbier from 11am).
– Camping cars are not allowed to park in Joux Plane and Corbier the day before.
WHERE TO SEE THE RACE?
Stand on avenue de Joux Plane, at the Pied de la Plagne traffic circle, or on route des Plagnettes to enjoy the passage through the village.
The Col de Joux Plane, Ranfoilly and the finish in Châtel are accessible free of charge by ski lift.
EXTENDED OPENING OF SKI LIFTS IN CERTAIN PARTS OF THE PORTES DU SOLEIL AREA TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR YOU TO GET AROUND:
Morzine
Pedestrian access to and from Morzine via Téléphérique de Nyon / Téléségge de la Charniaz with public shuttle service between these 2 installations from 2pm (25-seater return shuttle service on chemin des Raverettes).
Closures: last descent Charniaz chairlift 18h and Nyon cable car 19h.
The Charniaz chairlift closes to mountain bikers at 3pm.
Free pedestrian access from 2pm.
Avoriaz
Facilities open until 8:30pm: Ardent gondola, Chaux Fleurie chairlift and Lindarets chairlift. Free pedestrian access.
Châtel
Pierre Longue & Rochassons until 8:30pm Pierre Longue chairlift,
Rochassons chairlift Free pedestrian access.
Les Gets
Chavannes Express chairlift from 1:30pm. Last ascent 5:30pm, last descent 6:30pm. Free pedestrian access from 1:30pm.
PRACTICAL INFO BIKE PARK
To ensure the smooth running and safety of the event, the Charniaz chairlift will be closed to mountain bikes from 3pm, at the same time as the slopes:
– 18 Return Morzine
– 19 Atray
– 21 Chevreuil
THE STAGE: PRAZ-SUR-ARLY / CHATEL :124 KM, 100% HAUTE-SAVOIE
This final stage promises to be technical and spectacular, ideal for an attempt to overturn the classification. Three major climbs punctuate the route:
– Côte d’Arâches-la-Frasse (6.2 km at 7.1%)
– Col de Joux Plane (11.6 km, 8.5%)
– Col du Corbier (5.9 km at 8.5%)
After Joux Plane, the runners plunge into a fast descent to Morzine, then head for the Col du Corbier before a hard finish at Pré la Joux in Châtel.
An event to be experienced live or on France Télévisions for those not lucky enough to be there!
