A playground for everyone, to be preserved together

If you’re coming to ride in Morzine this summer, you already know that you’ll be riding in one of the best bike parks in Europe, because the Portes du Soleil is THE ultimate mountain biking destination! With varied trails, a huge area, a unique atmosphere and breathtaking scenery, it’s a paradise for mountain bikers, but like any paradise, it needs to be looked after.
This season, a communication campaign aimed at preserving this playground we all love has been launched. You will therefore see signage and awareness-raising signs (yellow 😉) on the ground and in the village.
Because it concerns you. Because it concerns us all!

Why? Because we want it to last.
Because we want it to last

Over the last few years, we’ve seen more and more riders setting out on their own off the beaten track. The desire for freedom is understandable. But some practices can endanger the mountain, other users… and you too.

Riding off-piste sometimes means :

  • Eroding the soil and degrading nature
  • Coming across a hiker at the wrong time
  • Unauthorised access to private land
  • Finding yourself in areas where help is not possible
  • Creating tensions with local residents

So this year, we’re putting things straight and moving forward together.

Concrete action on the ground

No blah, blah, blah. We worked with the neighbouring communes, the rescue teams, the ski lifts, the rental companies, the riders, the ONF and many others to create a realistic action plan.

Here’s what’s changed (or improved):

  • Areas that are clearly off -piste
  • New, more visible and legible signage
  • A dedicated rest area for riders right in the heart of Morzine (it’s going to be cool 🤘)
  • A poster campaign in the shops, on the slopes and even in the lifts
  • And above all, a simple message:

    👉👉#NoRespectNoFuture4Bikes

The aim? To keep riding for a long time, and together

There’s no question of restricting your creativity or your desire to go downhill. We just want everyone to be able to enjoy the area safely, with respect for the mountain and each other.

And the good news is that new lines are being considered to cater for the most technical riders, without spoiling our mountain pastures. Freeride, yes, but well thought out and well placed.

What are we asking of you? Three things:

  1. Stay on the marked trails
  2. Respect other users (hikers, locals, families)
  3. Protect the terrain (no wild tracks, no shortcuts in meadows)

Nothing complicated, just common sense. And all the more reason to continue to make Morzine a benchmark spot for all enthusiasts.

Whether you’re a pro rider, a Sunday hobbyist or a holidaymaker curious about downhill mountain biking, you’re part of this adventure. So this summer, we’re counting on you to ride clean, ride smart, and ride long.

Respect the mountains. Respect others. And enjoy yourself on the slopes.
