In need of a bit of fresh air this summer? Just the thing: in Morzine, you can swap the crowded, noisy beaches for the song of the water and shady paths. And you don’t have to be a keen hiker to enjoy them: the waterfalls are within walking distance of the village and the surrounding area. Put on your trainers (yes, no sandals here) and we’ll take you there.

Nyon waterfall: the nearest waterfall
If you want a classic that still packs a punch, head for the cascade de Nyon. In less than 30 minutes from the centre of Morzine, you’ll find yourself in a forest + river + waterfall environment. The path runs along the Dranse, climbs gently and takes you to a platform with a direct view of the waterfall. Bonus: an acrobranche course surrounding the waterfall is sure to delight your children.
More of a team sensation? You can go canyoning here too. A great way to see the waterfall up close.
- Access: from Place de la Poste, take the Renard path
- Duration: approx. 1 hour round trip
- Activities: hiking, canyoning, tree climbing
The Ardent waterfall: nature in XXL from Lake Montriond
Here, it’s more than just a waterfall: it’s a real walk along the water. From Lac de Montriond, you can follow a shady path along the Dranse. In 2 hours (if you take your time), you’ll come face to face with an impressive 30-metre waterfall. A footbridge also gives you a view just above the torrent.
It’s the perfect hike to do after a picnic by the lake, or in the late afternoon when the light is soft.
- Access: car park at Lac de Montriond
- Duration: approx. 2 hours
- Activities: hiking, picnics

The Brochaux waterfall: wild and fun
Looking for a more secret spot, with a nice walk to boot? Then head for Les Lindarets, the goat village. After the “meeeehs” of the goats, take the path that winds through the mountain pastures, past the forest, and leads you straight to the Brochaux waterfall. It’s a peaceful, cool spot, perfect for a nature break.
It’s a walk we love to suggest to families, or to those who want an easy hike with a change of scenery.
- Access: departure from Les Lindarets (accessible by car or cable car)
- Duration: approx. 2 hours round trip
- Activities: hiking, relaxing
