1975… 2022
In 1975, Morzine was chosen for the very first time to host the most famous event in the world of cycling.
2022: the Tour de France came back to Portes du Soleil for the 21st time. It has been 6 years, but Morzine is once again one of the major destinations chosen for the Tour de France.

The Portes du Soleil marked the gateway to the mountains for this 109th Tour de France. There was a stopover in Châtel on Sunday 10 July, and then the 10th stage departed from MORZINE and then covered 148 km towards Megève.

Cyclists were able to relax in Morzine for the first Tour de France rest day on Monday 11 July. The resort wasn’t chosen at random. Cyclists will find the perfect destination here thanks to the range of accommodation, ideal altitude (1,000 m), great roads to practice on and stay fit to then be able to take on the first big mountain passes of the Alps.

It is thanks to all of this that our mountain village was not only awarded the ‘Terre de Jeux 2024’ label for the 2024 Paris Games, but was also selected as a cycling training ground for the Olympic Games.
