Ideas for walks and hikes departing from Morzine
If you are coming to Morzine for the first time, you’ll most likely be looking for walks and hikes that depart directly from the resort. We’ve compiled a list of the most popular walks here. They are suitable for everyone.

This haven of greenery at the heart of Morzine alongside the river Dranse is where all the locals come on a Sunday. It really is the place to be!

The ridges of Le Pleney and Super Morzine can be reached using the lifts. From the top, there are various marked footpaths with great sun exposure and some stunning views across the valley and surrounding peaks.

There is a free shuttle service to Montriond lake close to Morzine. In this area of wilderness that will make you feel like you’ve travelled to Canada, there’s a great 3-km loop trail around the 3rd biggest natural lake in Haute-Savoie. We absolutely recommend extending your walk through the forest to Ardent waterfall!

The Sentier du Renard (fox trail) is a nature walk that departs from the centre of the village and then runs alongside the river Dranse via the old footpath up to the Nyon pastures. Along the path, there’s a permanent exhibition so that children can learn about how foxes live, about the natural environment on the banks of the river and the geology of the valley. At the entrance to the trail, there’s a statue of a fox. If you decide to venture along this trail, we recommend following the signs to Nyon waterfall (Cascade de Nyon). This place is absolutely stunning and it’s only a few hundred metres away from the fox trail. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you could then carry on up to the Mines d’Or lake or even the Col de Cou that sits on the border between France and Switzerland.

You can purchase the paper version of the map of the trails for €2 from the Tourist Office welcome desk. This map is also available to download for free. Don’t hesitate to take inspiration from the routes featured on the map for your next walks around Morzine.
