Les Aigles du Léman is a restaurant located in the heart of the resort of Morzine and the Portes du Soleil ski area. Set in the Nyon sector at an elevation of 1,500 metres, the restaurant has been designed to allow you to admire the birds during your meal.
A world first Jacques-Olivier Travers is the man behind this unique concept. His interest in falconry began when he was just a teenager. Later, with years of experience behind him, he founded an animal park devoted solely to birds of prey, which attracts hoards of visitors throughout the summer. But for the winter season, the birds return to the Morzine ski area. An opportunity for skiers to get to know these majestic raptors!
This led the Morzine Pléney management company and the Morzine Tourist Office to join forces with Les Aigles du Léman in an approach to support biodiversity. Fancy dining in the company of birds of prey?! Enjoy a totally innovative show entitled ‘Jeannot’s dahu hunt’, or an educational show, ‘The birds of prey of our mountains’, to admire these raptors in full flight as you savour a regional speciality. Dare you defy the falcon? You can even race against a falcon! Find out how you measure up to this bird of prey, and perhaps win admission to a falconry activity or a free meal. An original activity during which you’ll realise just how fast a falcon can fly. Falcons, vultures, owls, buzzards… To learn even more, visitors can sign up for a short course. Here’s your chance to go on a magical, 45-minute snowshoe walk with a bird of prey sitting on your arm.
At the foot of the slopes, the public can participate in activities inside the aviaries, watch eagles in flight, follow an educational trail with panels featuring information about birds of prey in the mountain habitat, or learn more by joining a beginners’ course. There’s even a souvenir shop.
Les Aigles du Léman also has three play areas for 2-12 year-olds, including the enchanted forest and the biggest indoor ball pool in France!
Anyone can reach the site, either via the ski slopes or by taking the Nyon cable car. (Free shuttle bus and car park)
